Yet this same man, as he grew older, turned out to be a good step-dad to me and grandfather to my children and they loved him as I did. The closeness came only because he no longer drank alcohol.
It was the alcohol that made life in our families so very hard and that had a lot to do with all the failed marriages in Lena's, mothers and my life I am sure.sequimitesalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11248550825752086890noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3600055259039986608.post-6686957332316215972011-01-03T23:43:04.264-08:002011-01-03T23:43:04.264-08:00Oh my gosh, I love reading your blog. I haven't made much progress in my restoration project. One thing you might consider is adding an external hard drive by your USB port to put all your geneology stuff in. I have two external drives (1 with 500 GB and the other has 350 GB). I love digital pictures so much and love digital scrapbooking and these external hard drives have really helped save on my computer hard drive space. I lost 6 months of pictures in 2006 (didn't back up files for 6 mos. when I knew better--definitely my fault) when my hard drive crashed. Thanks be to God, after 2 years of trying to find someone who could help me at least try to recover my pictures from the old hard drive I did. You can be sure I back up everything now before I ever turn off my computer.

Thanks for putting your blurb about your update on FB.Carolnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3600055259039986608.post-80834787385716495932011-01-03T11:47:26.175-08:002011-01-03T11:47:26.175-08:00Yes, I'm not trying to make any judgments as t...Yes, I'm not trying to make any judgments as to whether this marriage or that, or all their marriages together, were good or bad. I can't ever know that. All I can do is gather the facts and try to tell the story.

And that's one thing that has impressed me - the story that has come out. I've seen some of the postcards Lena sent her daughters, how she missed them and wanted to stay in contact with them. I know that Lena's girls loved their parents, regardless of what happened in their parents' personal lives, and that's what a family does. With all the divorces and being widowed (and there seems to have been an equal amount of each) it's amazing that they kept their families together through it all.

As for black sheep like horse theives and bank robbers...well, you never know, we might still have one somewhere. Don't give up hope yet! :)ironhide781https://www.blogger.com/profile/09601001912310870173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3600055259039986608.post-63427451822492675522011-01-03T11:32:28.383-08:002011-01-03T11:32:28.383-08:00Like you and were talking, I think it's import...Like you and were talking, I think it's important that we not make any judgments about Lena or any of her daughters. I knew Grace a little and she was always kind towards us kids, and Grandma Edna was a wonderful grandmother, always loving and generous. Who knows what twists and turns caused the multiple marriages - we can only speculate.

However, we know that these women were loved by their children and have each left a legacy of love within our family where cousins continue to keep in contact with each other and are constantly seeking to find more relatives of this 'interesting' family.

Keep up the research, Brandt. I really enjoy all of the tidbits of information you find ... but I'm a little disappointed. We are all from Montana and not one single bank robber or horse thief!Gibson Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10888013735682236468noreply@blogger.com
